Looking for a more invigorating practice than your usual yoga in the studio? New variations of yoga practices are beginning to launch in Hong Kong, ranging from practicing upside down to balancing on a paddle board. Below are some of our suggestions:
Aerial yoga is the combination of acrobatics, pilates, and yoga, all while staying off the floor. This practice defies gravity in ways one could never think they can achieve. Aerial Yoga is great for anyone with pains in their spine and joints, as the pressure is lifted when flying on a hammock. It is suitable for all abilities and can be found in many studios across Hong Kong. Plus, it’s insanely Instagram worthy!

A step further from aerial yoga in a studio, is doing it over water. Flying bamboo yoga is a practice which combines the essence of nature and aerial yoga. They offer both half and full day workshops, beginning with learning the basics in their Sheung Wan studio before making their way towards Sai Wan Beach. Being surrounded by the ocean allows you to naturally relax and ease away from the usual fast paced environment of Hong Kong. It’s perfect for a day trip with your friends!

SUP Yoga HK
Balancing on a paddle board is hard enough by itself, but what about adding yoga to the mix? Since 2014, SUP Yoga HK offers fun and challenging yoga classes at Stanley Beach. This class is great for improving balance and stability and as well stepping out of the mat and into a new environment.

The combination of acrobatics and yoga not only amplifies core, posture, and balance, but it also emphasizes heavily on trusting your partner. Many studios currently offer Acro yoga in Hong Kong, there is even a local acro yogi community to be a part of!
